Manu Ginobili Re-Ups With Spurs

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has decided to pursue a fourth NBA title with the Spurs after helping take Miami to the seventh game last month.

“Thrilled to announce that as I always hoped, I’m gonna stay with the Spurs for two more years,” he wrote.

Details of the contract were not announced, but it is reported that Ginobili, 36, will make considerably less than the $14.1 million that he made last season.  Center Tim Duncan took a hefty cut last season from $21.2 million to $9.6 million.

There were questions as to whether or not the Spurs would re-sign Ginobili.  He looked lethargic and slow at times during the series against Miami.  Also, his playoffs and regular season scoring averages were his lowest since his rookie season in 2002-2003.

Ginobili is known for his 3-point shooting ability (37 percent career), ballhandling and passing.  He’s a versatile player that can help out at the point, shooting guard and small forward in certain situations.

The Argentina native has averaged 14.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 11 NBA seasons.

Ginobilli should be re-sign but the spurs need to stop being cheap and offer him more to stay.
