Alex Rodriguez Fighting For His Baseball Life

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez stood before a large media throng at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago and told them that “he is fighting for his life” as he faces a 211 game suspension.

“I have to defend myself,” the embattled Yankee superstar said.  “No one else will do it.”

Rodriguez says that he has seen all the evidence that Major League Baseball has against him and he will give his rebuttal at the proper time.

“There’s nothing about it that’s been easy,” Rodriguez said. “All of it has been challenging. I’m sure there’s been mistakes made along the way. We’re here now. I’m a human being. I’ve had two hip surgeries. I’ve had two knee surgeries. I’m fighting for my life.”

Ironically, Rodriguez returned to the field tonight against the White Sox in his 2013 debut.  He batted clean-up and at the time this article was written, he had singled in one at bat as the Sox lead 5-0 heading into the third inning.
