Bernie Kosar’s NFL DUI Defense
- Updated: May 4, 2014
Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar used his NFL career to avoid jail time for his drunken driving charges.
Kosar pleaded no contest to lesser charges and claimed that his knee and ankle surgeries prevented him from performing field sobriety tests for an officer. Think all the booze he drank may have had something to do with it, too?
In the police report the officers said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Must have been rubbing alcohol that Kosar was using to treat his NFL injuries, right?
Kosar was charged with drunk driving last September, his April 28 plea resulted in a fine and suspended jail sentence. The Browns bounced Kosar from his color commentator role for their preseason games. So evidently his former employer didn’t buy the knee and ankle surgeries excuse.
Can anybody explain to me why rich athletes and celebrities don’t pay to have a driver when they are out drinking?
