Braves Fan Falls From Upper Deck

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and MLB.com are reporting that a man fell from the upper deck at Turner Field, the home of the Atlanta Braves, Monday night.  He was transported to the hospital around 9 p.m.

The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies had a 1 hour and 45 minute rain delay before their scheduled 7:10 game, so it is hard to determine at this time if the fan fell before or during play.

The man fell at least 30 feet and is in serious condition, according to fire department spokeswoman, Janet Ward.  There is no information currently available as to where and how the man fell.

The Braves are currently referring all questions to the Atlanta police.

This is not the first time that a fan has had a fall at Turner Field that resulted in serious consequences.  In 2008 a 25-year old fan fell over 150 feet from the club level to the landing on the terrace level during the eighth inning of a Mets vs the Braves game.  He later died from his injuries.

Update:  The fan who fell Monday night at Turner Field has died from his injuries. (11:25 p.m. ET)
