Bristol Jumbled Sprint Car Series

Bristol Motor Speedway mixed up the Sprint Car Series standings and has made the race for the Chase an interesting one in the next two weeks.

While Dale Earnhart, Jr., solidified his position in the top 10 points, a couple former Cup champions struggled.  Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch both had major problems.  Keselowski got tangled in a multi-car wreck with 52 laps remaining along with Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex, Jr. and Kevin Harvick.  The 30th place finish dropped Keselowski from 9th to 11th in the standings.

Kurt Busch dropped from 12th due to a broken wheel hub and a loose wheel.  Busch led 54 consecutive laps early in the race before his problems and finished a disappointing 31st.

“We’ve got two races to go, and I heard we’re only five points out of 10th,” Busch said after the race.  Just never give up. You feel like going back out sometimes is really just a hazard, but guys had trouble near the end.”

The two drives who supplanted Keselowski and Busch in the top 10 were Kasey Kahne and Joey Logan with their second and fifth place finishes.

Next Sunday, Atlanta Motor Speedway will be the battleground, followed by the regular season finale on September 7 at Richmond International Raceway.
