Bryce Harper Injured Again Leaves Game
- Updated: April 26, 2014
Bryce Harper left Friday night’s game against the San Diego Padres with an apparent left thumb injury. The oft-injured Nationals outfielder left the game after belting a bases clearing triple.
Harper was injured when he slid head first into third base and the thumb landed wrong. Nate McLouth came in to replace Harper.
X-rays after the game were negative, so Harper is listed as day-t0-day. The guy is a helluva talent, but he’s got to shake off this little stuff and stay in the line-up.
Harper was recently pulled from a game by manager Matt Williams for not hustling. When the kid does hustle, he does stupid stuff.
Someone needs to teach Harper how to go in feet first so he can avoid the hand and finger injuries incurred by sliding head first. Sure, the head first slides look great on SportsCenter when you bounce up with your jersey dirty. But there is a far greater chance of injury.
The Nationals organization has screwed up Strasburg and Harper is a mess, too.
