Cardinals Fans Time to Panic?
- Updated: April 29, 2014
The Milwaukee Brewers have opened up a comfortable six and a half game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals and we haven’t even hit May 1 yet. Is it time for Cardinals fans to panic?
Barring injury, the Brewers look like the team to beat in the National League Central division. The Brew Crew has the best record in baseball at 19-7 and has been doing it with great starting pitching.
Milwaukee’s starting rotation has been outstanding so far this season and sports the third best ERA in baseball at 2.74.
The Brewers bullpen has been excellent also, closer Francisco Rodriguez is 12 for 12 in save opportunities and hasn’t given up a run yet this season. The 13-year veteran has been pitching the best baseball of his career this season and there’s no reason to believe that he won’t continue to be dominant.
Aramis Ramirez, Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy are supplying the offense, along with Ryan Bryan who is showing the league that he has a lot more going for him than PEDs.
Long way to go yet, but the Cardinals look like no more than the second best team in the NL Central this season.
