Christian Ponder Leaving Vikings?

Josh FreemanWith the Minnesota Vikings giving newly acquired Josh Freeman the start against the New York Giants on Monday night, questions arise about the status of deposed Vikings QB, Christian Ponder.

What is amazing about the NFL, is that while Ponder appears to be on the outs with the Vikings, he will most likely be coveted by another team that desperately needs a QB and figures that he would be a good fit for their system.  Just like Freeman was run out of Tampa and has resurfaced as the latest and greatest in Minnesota.

Ponder certainly didn’t dispel any thoughts of his potentially leaving the Vikings when asked out it on Wednesday.

“Again, I have to figure out what’s best for me and everything and for this team,” said Ponder.  “I don’t know if that’s staying here or going somewhere else.”

Freeman inked a one-year deal with the Vikings after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He completed just 45.7 percent of his passes and tossed three interceptions before he was benched, stripped of his captaincy and banned from team meetings and the sidelines.

What is lost in all this is that the Vikings are a lousy team and the problems go far beyond whoever happens to be the flavor-of-the-week quarterback.
