Colts Lefeged Released Without Bond
- Updated: July 4, 2013
Indianapolis Colts safety JoeLefeged was released after a hearing in a Washington, DC court on multiple gun possession charges on his own recognizance without bond.
Lefeged was pulled over for speeding, but then took off in an attempt to outrun police. A short time later the long blue arm of the law reached out and nabbed the Colts safety and his passenger.
Prosecutors attempted to keep Lefeged in jail, arguing that there was evidence of drug use and the gun was loaded.
Lefeged is supposed to be entering his third year in the NFL. Obviously his professional football career is now in doubt, pending resolution of his legal troubles.
Lefeged is the 31st NFL player to be arrest since last season ended. Three of those players are free agents, twenty-eight are on NFL rosters.
Bears’ tight end Evan Rodriguez and Lions wide receiver Titus Young are the unofficial off-season leaders with multiple arrests.
