Cubs Top Prospect Struggling
- Updated: April 14, 2014
Cubs top prospect Javy Baez is headed to the 7-day disabled list after spraining his ankle Friday night. It wasn’t like he was sliding into home plate to score the winning run, either. Baez messed up his ankle during pregame fielding practice.
Baez has had a rough start to his 2014 season. Last week Baez was ejected from a game and also go into it with a teammate. Life is rough at the top, I guess.
Baez argued with the teammate after getting ejected for arguing a third strike. At 21 years old, Baez is showing the athletic skills that could carry him a long way, but will have to show maturity before someday getting the call to the majors.
The 21-year old shortstop is hitting just .154 this season at AAA Iowa with 10 strikeouts in 26 at bats. He has been called the most aggressive hitter they have ever seen by several top baseball scouts.
Baez is looking to build on his 2013 season when he hit 37 home runs, including 20 at AA.
Keep on eye on this kid…
