Dirk Nowitzki Leaves With Elvis
- Updated: April 21, 2014
Dirk Nowitzki is a missing person, at least in a basketball sense. He sure wasn’t at the AT&T Center against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1. He left the building before game time with Elvis.
Nowitzki only contributed 11 points against the Spurs, far below his 25.9 points per game career playoff average. The usually accurate German was only 4 of 14 from the field.
Dallas only lost 90-85, so if Nowitzki had given them anything, they win the game. I don’t mean delivering in the clutch, either. I mean delivering in the first through the third quarter. If Nowitzki hadn’t been translucent, the Mavs win by ten or more.
The Mavs held a 10-point lead halfway through the fourth quarter, despite Nowitzki’s no-show. They then proceeded to miss 12 straight shots…wouldn’t that have been a great time for Nowitzki to step up and deliver?
Game 2 is 7 p.m. in San Antonio. Elvis has left the building. Will Nowitzki leave too, or will he hang around for a while this time?
