Giants Add Veteran Running Back

AP VikesThe New York Giants are short on running backs with David Wilson out, so they have added 6-year veteran Peyton Hillis. Both Danny Ware and Hills worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.

Hillis has bounced around lately, having played with the Kansas City Chiefs last season and being cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month.

The 27-year old running back attended Conway High School in Conway, Arkansas, where he was heavily recruited.  He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 draft by the Denver Broncos and worked his way into the starting line-up.

The former Razorback was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2010.  He gained additional notoriety by being on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden ’12 after winning a nationwide vote.

In his career, Hills has carried the ball 597 times for 2,470 yards, a 4.1 yard average, and has scored 21 touchdowns while hauling in 111 receptions.

His biggest year was 2010 with the Browns when he gained 1,177 yards on 270 carries, a 4.4 yard average.  He caught 61 passes and scored 11 touchdowns.
