Jimmie Johnson Crashes Car
- Updated: August 17, 2013
Five-time Spring Cup champion Jimmie Johnson is having a rough go of it again at the Michigan International Speedway. Johnson rendered his car unusable for the race as he hit the wall in a Saturday practice run.
Johnson’s No. 48 Chevrolet car crashed nose first into the wall on turn four. Fortunately, Johnson was taken to the care center in the infield area and was released after a short stay.
The problem for Johnson in the race is that he will have to now start in the back of the pack. He qualified third, but since he will be using a replacement car, he loses that qualifying spot.
Joey Logano will be on the pole in Sunday’s 1 p.m. Spring Car race at MIS.
