Mike Minor Return Creates Problem

Mike Minor, Atlanta Braves starter, could be making his first 2014 start for the Braves next week.  Minor was sharp in his rehab start at the Braves Single-A Rome affiliate last Friday, giving up only one hit in five innings.

The Braves have Minor scheduled to start this Friday for their AA Mississippi affiliate in his final tune-up before rejoining the big club.  If all goes well, the lefty will make his 2014 debut against the Reds on Friday, April 25, at Turner Field.

Minor has been battling shoulder tendonitis that has kept him out of the major league line-up.

The Braves have a nice problem they will encounter with Minor’s return.  All five starters have ERAs under 3.00 and a cumulative ERA under 2.00 that leads the majors.

Playing professional sports can be tough on the psyche.  Players are asked to do a job and even when they do a great job, they are still bumped when the star comes back from injury.

Rookie David Hale will most likely be the odd man out.  Hale will either be optioned to AAA Gwinnett or he may be asked to help shore up a shaky Braves bullpen.
