Mike Minor Will Make 2014 Season Debut
- Updated: April 29, 2014
Mike Minor will make his Atlanta Braves 2014 debut against the San Francisco Giants at Turner Field on Friday night, May 2. Minor has been in the minors rehabbing a bum shoulder.
The Braves starting rotation has been the best in baseball without Minor. How is that for pressure? If Minor doesn’t pitch great like the guy who he replaces in the rotation, he and the Braves will both be criticized.
Minor has been one of the 1o best starters in the National League the past couple years. Even though he will most likely be bumping David Hale, who has pitched great ball for the Braves, the Minor move back into the rotation was always inevitable.
The 26-year old Minor has tossed 22.1 innings in 5 minor league games in his rehab and compiled a 4.43 ERA. He walked 4 while striking out 19 in compiling a 2-2 record.
No word yet on what corresponding move the Braves will make to open space for Minor’s return, although it is expected Hale will be optioned out to AAA Gwinnett. Hale has a 1-0 record this season with a 2.31 ERA in 23 innings.
