Puig Disciplined By Dodgers

Electic Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder, Yasiel Puig, was disciplined by the team after showing up late to Tuesday night’s game against the Marlins.  Puig is also not in the line-up for the game, although Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that had nothing to do with Puig showing up late for the game.

Don Mattingly had this to say about Puig, “We don’t have any problems with Yasiel in the clubhouse. He’s a good kid. Really, there are no personal problems.  His problems come from mistakes that we want to correct.”

Puig showed up at 4:50, Dodger players are expected to be in the locker room by 4:15.  Evidently Puig either missed the team bus or opted to take his own transportation and didn’t make it on time.

Puig went 0 for 5 Monday with two strikeouts and in Sunday’s game the Dodgers right fielder missed the cut-off man on a throw and was picked off first base.  So his head hasn’t been in the game lately.  Could Mattingly be sending the rookie a wake-up call?

Puig is hitting .351 on the season with 11 homers and 27 RBIs in 67 games with a .412 OBP, .556 SLG and .968 OPS.  But he has only hit .171 in his last nine games.
