Puig Hiding Behind Statement
- Updated: April 17, 2014
Yasier Puig’s agent issued a statement that said Puig will not be commenting on the chilling Los Angeles Magazine story that detailed his escape from Cuba.
“I’m aware of the recent articles and new accounts. I understand that people are curious and have questions, but I will have no comment on this subject. I’m represented on this matter, and I’m only focused on being a productive teammate and helping the Dodgers win games.”
Puig has never publicly talked about his escape from Cuba and set the record straight. Consequently there are wild rumors floating around about human traffickers and pimps and Mexican cartels wanting their pound of flesh.
Puig has supposedly receives death threats and is under pressure from those that helped him escape.
In my opinion Puig should come forward publicly about this story let all the skeletons tumble out of the closet. The truth would wrap him in a cloak of security. If there are individuals out there who could potentially harm him, the truth would allow everyone to be vigilante and in effect protect him. Silence is a stupid move by Puig and his agent.
With all the controversy surrounding Puig’s situation, LA manager Don Mattingly kept Puig out of the line-up on Wednesday night against the Giants.
