Rangers Disable Alexei Ogando
- Updated: August 20, 2013
The Texas Rangers have placed starter Alexei Ogando on the disabled list, with what has been reported as nerve inflammation in his shoulder. Not the kind of news that the Rangers wanted to hear, as they gear up for the stretch run.
Ogando skipped his last start for the Texas Rangers, after he complained of soreness in the shoulder last week. Ogando was then sent for testing and after results were reviews, the Rangers decided to put the pitcher on the shelf.
Ogando has had injury problems all season. This is the third time that he has been placed on the disabled list, but in between he has given the Rangers quality performances.
This season the Rangers’ right-hander has delivered a 3.47 ERA in 80 innings. He has a career 3.49 ERA over 45 starts so Texas getting him back healthy will be a big shot in the arm for the Rangers. If his injury proves to be severe enough to keep him out the rest of the season, it would be a huge blow to the Rangers.
