Reds Alfredo Simon Falsely Accused of Rape?
- Updated: April 26, 2014
Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon has had a civil lawsuit filed against him by a woman accusing him of rape. The allegations stem from an April 2013 incident in a Washington hotel room.
The woman apparently met Simon at The Huxley night club in Washington, D.C. and she went back to his crib at the Mayfaire Renaissance Hotel. She claims she was assaulted in the early morning hours.
The woman is seeking $15 million in damages which includes $5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages.
Is this woman a money hound and is this lawsuit a legal form of extortion? When the woman reported the alleged rape to Metro Police, they investigated the incident and passed it along to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia.
After meeting with the woman and her attorney, the U.S. Attorney’s office declined to press charges. They made the decision in two weeks which is greased lightning in the legal arena.
So as bystanders what do we know about this woman? She meets a ballplayer at a club and goes back to his hotel room late at night. Did she think he wanted her to come back ’cause he wanted to play backgammon with her and admire her wonderful personality? The woman makes allegations to the authorities that she was raped, but they don’t press charges. Then she files a lawsuit for a huge amount of money. I’ll buy a smart Car for a million dollars before I buy this broad’s story.
