Report: Charlie Strong Challenges Urban Meyer
- Updated: August 12, 2013
Louisville Cardinals head football coach Charlie Strong has challenged Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer to play his Cardinals, according to a recent report. Strong and Meyer are very good friends since the Florida days when they teamed up to win two national championships.
WDRB’s Rick Bozich reports that Charlie Strong told him this, “”We talk a lot,” Strong said. “I have asked him to play me. I don’t know if he will. I don’t know if he wants to. But I’d love to.”
Meyer and Ohio State would have to think twice about playing Louisville. Strong has the Cardinals playing great football and that reflects in them being ranked in the top 25 in just about every preseason college football poll. Plus, Meyer was never exactly known for loading up his non-conference schedule while at Florida. Why would the leopard change his spots now?
Strong went on to say, “Before we got in the ACC, I was like, ‘We need to play a big-time opponent. Urban, why don’t you play us?’
Urban Meyer’s response was to say that they should think about that. Strong says that it was over a year ago that he approached Meyer, so evidently ol’ Urban is still thinking. And thinking, and thinking, and thinking.
