The NFL has announced New York Giants free-agent wide receiver Brandon Collins has violated the NFL Policy and Program for Substance Abuse and consequently will be suspended for the first four games of the 2013 regular season.
Collins’ suspension was announced by the NFL yesterday.
The 5-11 180 pound Collins can return to the Giants’ active roster on September 30. He was signed by the Giants on May 14, 2012 and was on the Giants’ practice squad for part of last season.
The Brenham, TX native will be eligible to participate in all off-season and preseason workouts, practices and games.
At the recent Giants veteran camp Collins played well and was expected to compete for a roster spot.
Collins played two seasons at the University of Texas before transferring to Southeastern Louisiana. In 2011, he caught 61 passes for 746 yards and 5 touchdowns.
